The deep sea is extremely unknown as going there is extremely difficult, here are 5 facts about the deep sea!



Fact 1

Most animals in the deep sea are bioluminescent, meaning they have the ability to produce light to see in the dark because there isn't any light that reaches the deep sea.

Fact 2

Inside the deep sea rely on the hydrothermal vents, the chemicals from those vents are used to create food. This process is called “Chemosynthesis”.

On the deep seafloor, there are small volcanoes near tectonic plates apart, these are called “Hydrothermal Vents”, these vents are important for the encosystem of the deep sea.

Only 3 people have ever touched the seafloor in the deep sea, unlike a handful that landed onto the moon and thousands who climbed mount Everest.

The pressure of the water in the deep sea is over 15,000 PSI, which makes it difficult to explore the deep sea as you will likely to get crushed if you go down there with no proper gears.
